Frequently Asked Questions

About Retulp

Retulp is a Dutch Social Enterprise with a clear mission: we want to make disposable plastic obsolete. Our reusable bottles, cups and lunch products help you live sustainably. Moreover, with every purchase Retulp donates clean drinking water to people in need. So with one purchase you contribute to yourself, others and the planet.

Through Made Blue, Retulp donates millions of liters of clean drinking water in Africa and Asia and also supports projects of Amref Flying Doctors, the Red Cross, Simavi and World Vision. We are also a business supporter of the World Wildlife Fund (for plastic-free seas) and donate annually to Club Kakatua, which stops plastic waste in Asian rivers. Companies that order from us even receive a certificate of their water donation. To learn more about our sustainable mission and the charities we support, check out our Sustainable Mission & Charities page.

Yes, all our stainless steel and glass products are 100% BPA-free and free of harmful substances.

Most do, but we recommend hand washing to keep them looking great longer. Check the product page for specific instructions.

Materials & Sustainability

Retulp works with various sustainable materials, such as stainless steel (STAINLESS STEEL), glass, bamboo fiber, cork, RPET (recycled plastic) and sometimes PLA (biodegradable bioplastic). Each material has its own advantages: bamboo grows at lightning speed, cork is renewable without cutting down trees, and RPET gives used plastic bottles a second life.

Stainless steel is extremely durable, lasts for years and is completely free of harmful substances. It is strong, tasteless and odorless, making it ideal for everyday use. To learn more about the materials we use and our sustainable manufacturing process, check out our Materials & Sustainability page.

Yes, for many products you can reorder individual caps and parts. This way you don't have to replace everything and your product lasts longer.

Festivals & Legislation

Yes! More and more festivals are switching to reusable cups and bottles because of new legislation banning disposable plastic. Our Hardcup cups and stainless steel bottles are perfect for this. For tips and solutions for sustainable use at festivals, see our Sustainable Festivals page.

Since July 2023, no free disposable plastic cup or meal container may be provided. You pay a surcharge or choose a reusable option. In fact, starting in 2024, reusable tableware will become the norm in offices and restaurants. In addition, since 2023 there is a deposit on cans (€0.15). For a full overview of the new legislation and what it means, check out our Eco Legislation 2023 page.
